What are these notaire fees?
Buyers Answers

The notaire works for the government in collecting taxes due on property transactions.  He also ensures that the transaction is legal, that the vendor has the right to sell, that the buyer is who he says he is and that the price stated is true. It is the notaire who produces the final Acte de Vente (sale deed).

His fees are modest in relation to the taxes he collects, and are not negotiable.  The fees and taxes range from about 50% on a very small transaction to about 7% for a higher priced property. We can always give you an estimate of the fees and taxes on a given property.
