DORDOGNE BUDGET FOR 2007
Information for Buyers
Chairman of the Perigord County Council, Mr Bernard Cazeau, set
out the budget for 2007 during a Council meeting on November 24 2006. The General Council, he said, is not only a Manager but also a Developer. It must build up adapted infrastructures, and finance local projects. He then outlined to members of the council the main projects for the 2007 –2010 period :-
- Make the Region more accessible by improvements to the road and rail networks
- Improve educational facilities in the Colleges especially in the field of IT
- Innovate and develop tourist facilities for international
visitors to the Pehistoric Sites at les Eyzies and realise the potential of the Dordogne Valley attractions.
- Upgrade the heritage of the monuments of the Perigord such as the chateaux of Bourdeilles, Cadouin and Biron
- Set up a Business Park on the outskirts of Perigueux near the Motorway A89 including a ‘Maison du Perigord’
- Improve telecommunications in the areas not yet served by broadband
- Grants for the communes, charities and small business to finance their development projects.
In order to finance these objectives, the council must invest 130,000,000 euros a year until 2010.
